Il film dell’anno è senz’altro Joker e la strepitosa interpretazione di Joaquin Phoenix.
Sono stato la scorsa settimana a vedere questo capolavoro e inizialmente ho pensato di essere l’unico pazzo a vedere delle similitudini tra l’eroe/antieroe della storia e il mio lavoro.
Poi ho iniziato a leggere commenti e battute sul fatto che quello che diceva Joker potesse essere la frase detta da un cameriere e così ho deciso di fare un elenco di tutte le similitudini.
Il risultato non cambia a quanto pare: o sono pazzo a vedere certe similitudini, o sono pazzo a essere cameriere.
Anzi, WAITER!

1) LE SCARPE
Joker che cerca di rendere meno dolorose le scarpe che andrà a indossare, allargandole, in uno sforzo fisico che rappresenta la fatica che il suo lavoro da giullare di strada comporta.
Se sei cameriere non serve ricordarti quante scarpe hai cambiato da quando hai iniziato questo lavoro e per chi non sempre ha avuto la possibilità economica se non addirittura il tempo, di ricambiare rapidamente un paio di scarpe con uno meno logoro, meno consumato, cosa abbia comportato indossare quelle vecchie scarpe nere, con la suola consumata, storta, e il plantare bucato al tallone.

2) TUTTI PAZZI
“Sono io o gli altri sono tutti pazzi”
Quante volte ce lo siamo chiesti lavorando al pubblico e confrontandoci ogni giorno con le follie di clienti al limite della decenza e colleghi al limite dell’esasperazione?

3) RITORNO AL PASSATO
“Stavo molto meglio quando ero rinchiuso in ospedale”
Molti camerieri si ritrovano a fare questo lavoro per pura casualità. Prima facevano altro.
Spesso questo “altro” era monotono, con poche aspettative e forse anche remunerato peggio.
Eppure ogni tanto viene da pensare se sia stata la scelta giusta lasciare quel mondo ovattato ma pur sempre confortevole.

4) OGNUNO HA LA SUA MASCHERA
Joker che rientra con i mezzi con il suo zaino.
Di certo il cameriere non è l’unico ad andare a lavoro con i mezzi pubblici.
Ma quanti sentono di essere invisibili quando dismettono gli abiti con i quali il mondo è abituato a vederli?
Tempo fa pubblicammo un’occcata facendo ironia come spesso noi camerieri non veniamo riconosciuti dai clienti che serviamo quando vestiamo borghese. Ironia, ma anche verità.

5) NON ESISTI

6) LA SALA È UN PALCOSCENICO
“Pensavo che la mia vita fosse una tragedia, ma ora mi rendo conto che è una commedia”
C’è chi entra per necessità nella ristorazione, con la sola speranza di pagare l’affitto di casa.
Il nostro lavoro nel 99% non ti rende ricco, ne tanto meno ti permette di svoltare in una società che continua a sfruttarci.
La vera svolta che ci può dare è il modo con cui vivere, nella società.
Se si ha la forza e la capacità di entrarci dalla porta di servizio per poi arrivare ai tavoli dei clienti, vestiti eleganti con la divisa d’ordine, alla pari, sullo stesso palcoscenico che condividiamo ogni giorno con il resto del mondo.

7) L’EROE IGNORATO
“Per tutta la vita non ho mai saputo se esistevo veramente, ma esisto, e le persone iniziano a notarlo”
Nella fase di trasformazione in cui il nostro eroe/villain trova spazio nel mondo, egli trova compimento e soddisfazione dal fatto che finalmente viene notato. Questo non può che farci pensare a come la figura del cameriere venga tutt’ora in parte ignorata e di come un domani vorrebbe essere notata.

8) CHIAMAMI PER NOME
“Murray, un piccolo favore, quando mi farai entrare mi annunceresti come Joker?”
Murray rappresenta lo star system, i media, quelli che se parlano di te esisti, altrimenti sei fuori dal sistema.
Quando Joker sta per entrare in scena chiede di essere chiamato con il suo nome.
Ho giocato sulla similitudine del nome tra JokER e WaitER pensando proprio a questa scena.
Se un domani il mondo si dovesse accorgere di noi, non vorremmo essere chiamati con un nome diverso da quello che siamo. Siamo CAMERIERI. Vogliamo essere chiamati così.

9) PUT ON A HAPPY FACE!
Prima di entrare in scena nel talk show di Robert de Niro conduttore, Joker si osserva di fronte allo specchio, dove ha scritto questa frase.
“Metti una faccia felice”
Nel nostro lavoro si è soliti dire – “I problemi si lasciano a casa” – perché il cliente prima che venire a bere o mangiare, viene a rilassarsi, prendersi il suo momento di tranquillità, e noi, più di tutti, più dei cuochi o dei barman, siamo i responsabili di questa felicità. Non importa cosa stiamo vivendo in quel momento, non importa la discussione avuta con il cliente, il collega o il datore di lavoro 1 minuto prima.
PUT ON A HAPPY FACE!
Mettete quello specchio nel bagno dei dipendenti e poi diteci se non vi sentite anche voi un po’ come Joaquin Phoenix in quella scena.

10) NON CAPIREBBE
Ma la chiusura del film rende forse il massimo dell’idea e del perché ci siano così tante similitudini. Un Joker rinchiuso in un manicomio, per questo quindi pazzo, con il quale la psicologa cerca di avere un contatto e di capire il senso delle sue smorfie e della sua ironia.
Lo stesso contatto, la stessa empatia che le persone che vivono al di fuori del nostro lavoro cercano di avere con noi, quando cercano di capire perché facciamo i sacrifici e gli sforzi che illogicamente ci portano a continuare, ogni giorno, a fare questo lavoro. Qualcuno tenta invano di usare una parola per creare un ponte tra noi e loro: “PASSIONE”
Ma la verità è solo una. Non ha alcun senso tentare di spiegarlo, perché come dice Joker – “Non capirebbe”.
