A parte l’acronimo di O.C.C.CA. che richiama il nome del pennuto, la scelta di far impersonare ad un’oca il ruolo del cameriere non è stata affatto casuale. Innanzitutto va specificato: è un’oca, non un papero!
Per chi non lo sapesse il papero altro non è che il maschio dell’oca che ancora non ha raggiunto la maturità sessuale. Il papero se vogliamo fare una metafora è il commis che deve ancora fare esperienza e maturare ad “OCCCA”.
Altro aspetto che mi piaceva era come l’oca è un uccello che di norma siamo abituati a vedere camminare o nuotare nell’acqua, ignorando spesso che in realtà per migrare compie lunghissimi viaggi in volo. Esattamente come chi fa questo lavoro, che viene spesso sottovalutato nelle proprie capacità, che sono date proprio dall’esperienza avuta in giro per il mondo a lavorare nei locali più diversi, nelle zone più assurde.
Il resto dei personaggi furono poi pensati associandoli sempre ad animali da cortile, d’altronde cos’è un ristorante se non un’allegra fattoria?
In realtà esiste anche un’altra associazione più Orwelliana. Se qualcuno ha letto “La Fattoria degli Animali” ricorderà come i protagonisti del romanzo ad un certo punto della storia si ribellano contro l’uomo (il ristoratore?) per prendere possesso dell’intera fattoria. Il loro sogno di autogestione viene poi però distrutto dai maiali (i cuochi?) che se all’inizio erano stati gli ideatori della rivoluzione, poi finirono per impossessarsi dell’intera fattoria, per arrivare a prendere le sembianze di quelli che erano stati i loro padroni. Non male come metafora per chi giudica continuamente il proprio datore di lavoro senza sapere come si potrebbe comportare se fosse al suo posto!
Ma la frase che ci convinse più di tutte fu un’aforisma dell’attore Michael Caine:
“Sii come una papera,
Calma sulla superficie dell’acqua,
e sotto, sempre con le zampe in movimento”
Chissà se anche Michael Caine ha fatto il cameriere da giovane.
